ANIMOK is a part of creating the national film and media pedagogy in day care and schools, and therefore we work purposefully to ensure that children have a playful, exploratory and creative approach to what visual digital media is, and that their professional adults in day care and schools gain the latest knowledge and skills about film and media literacy when they participate in ANIMOK.
Animation and games are the focal point of ANIMOK, and through workshops, children actively encounter animation and games as a cultural and aesthetic form of expression that they can make into their own personal language.
Every year we curate a strong and eye-opening film program, which gives room for reflection and big laughs. We show both short film programs and feature films of high quality from around the world. Associated with selected film programs are teaching material, Q&A with the filmmakers and workshops.
With ANIMOK, we want to give children a meaningful voice and make them active world citizens. That’s why we collaborate with other international film festivals for children, with whom we do cross-cultural projects. In addition, we use the UN’s World Goals for Sustainable Development and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child when curating film programs and planning workshops and animation competitions for schools.
