VAF Best Short
Animerede kortfilm i Danmark, og som på dansk oversættes til tegnefilm, er egentlig ikke noget nyt. Faktisk forsøgte kunstneren og opfinderen Storm P. tilbage i 1906 at lave en lille tegnede film, og dermed tegnede han sig ind blandt animationsfilmens pionerer. Animerede kortfilm er et lækkert format – en særlig fortællestil, der kræver mod, nøjagtighed og skarphed for der er ikke meget tid til at fortælle i.
De animerede kortfilm i programmet er visionære, humoristisk, absurde, triste, tankevækkende. Filmskaberen har frie hænder til at eksperimentere med forskellige teknikker: håndtegnede animation, 3D animation, cut’out, dukkeanimation. VAF Best Short program viser en imponerende mangfoldighed og interessante nye eksempler på animeret kortfilm fra hele verden.
VAF Best Short er film der formår at røre os dybt på meget kort tid. VAF Best Feature modtager alle internationalt producerede animationsfilm af enhver genre. Filmens længde er mindst 25 minutter inklusive credits.

Jury
Claus Toksvig Kjaer
Claus Toksvig Kjaer er dansk animation producer. Han læste engelsk litteratur på Aarhus Universitet, men skiftede kurs og blev uddannet som animator fra The Animation Workshop i Viborg. Derefter har han arbejdet på en række kortfilm, før han kom til Cartoon Saloon i Kilkenny Irland i 2006 som produktionskoordinator på deres BBC-tv-show ‘Skunk Fu’.
Fra 2013 blev han partner i det danske animationsstudie Nørlum, der primært fokuserer på spillefilm, og han har co-producerede film som den Oscar-nominerede ‘Song of the Sea’ for Cartoon Saloon og ‘Long Way North’ for Sacrebleu og Maybe Movies.
Jennifer Zheng
Jennifer Zheng (She/Her) grew up in Belfast where her dad cultivated her artistic talents by making her repeatedly draw the same egg for weeks, just like Leonardo da Vinci. He then moved her to copying headshots of Hollywood A-listers including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie -unlike da Vinci. This paid off and now she is a BAFTA-nominated, multi-award-winning Animation Director and Designer based in London. She is currently an Associate Creative Director at BUCK.
Philip Hunt
PHILIP HUNT is a partner & creative director, at STUDIO AKA – an OSCAR-nominated and Multi-EMMY & BAFTA-winning animation studio based in London, known internationally for its innovative work across an eclectic range of projects.
His recent project, ‘HERE WE ARE: Notes For Living On Planet Earth’, is the EMMY-winning half-hour animated adaptation of the No. 1 TIME Best Book of the Year by OLIVER JEFFERS. The film features the voices of MERYL STREEP, CHRIS O’DOWD, JACOB TREMBLAY and RUTH NEGGA, and is currently showing on Apple TV+.
Philips previous collaboration with Oliver Jeffers, the BAFTA (& 61 International Awards) winning children’s film LOST AND FOUND – was adapted into a half-hour animated film from Jeffers’ best- selling book, narrated by JIM BROADBENT and featuring a score by MAX RICHTER.
Philip’s directing career spans a myriad of commissioned works, including projects for BMW, KRADVAT, HERMAN MILLAR and the ONE.org & (RED).org charities. His diverse body of work also includes the multi-award-winning short film
